Artist Statement
In this mural for Sea Walls Emeryville, he alludes to the heating and expansion of the ocean. 2021 was the warmest year on record for the ocean as well as the highest global sea level. The pockets of orange in each wave highlight this heating reality, while the yellow and orange sky points to the exacerbated pollution and stagnating heat in our atmosphere. The height of the waves in the mural being just above the windows of the facade signifies the dire consequences for coastal communities, small businesses, and beyond.
