Story Behind This Mural

Artist Statement

I came to the island with the intent to do a shark breaching mural based off of what I learned from diving with sharks in Hawaii a few months back. But after spending some time in Cozumel amongst the people and snorkeling a few of the gorgeous reefs off the coast, I wanted to represent the island’s beauty and hospitality that was graciously extended to me. I was fortunate to paint a wall on the international port of Cozumel, that can be seen from a mile away on the main strip of town, and also by the big cruise ships that come and dock as a destination stop. I had the time of my life, and hopefully, everyone that comes to visit can enjoy the precious and natural luxuries that this island has to offer as I have for generations to come! These natural luxuries are often eclipsed by the run-of-mill tourist traps that are found at every cruise ship stop in the Caribbean. To all tourists that visit, Get off the tourist strip and see the island and ask how you can help to preserve its beauty.
