Story Behind This Mural
Artist Statement
Plectorhinchus, also known as Sweet Lips fish, is a species of grunt. Closely related to the snappers, grunts have smaller mouths and teeth and thicker fleshy non plastic lips hence the name "sweet lips".
Sweet Lips inspired my work because of its beautiful colors and beautiful full lips. These fish live around reef habitats in schools and only eat their food live so a clean habitat is essential to their survival.
My mural hopes to raise awareness and maybe can give some insight and education of what we might loose if we continue to pollute and overfish the oceans and coral reefs. I hope my mural can remind us of how beautiful our oceans are and how important it is to take care for our oceans for ourselves and future generations. We afford to lose anymore of the precious beauty and life that calls our oceans home. Spread the love because beauty is everywhere, even in the deepest, coldest and darkest oceans.
