Story Behind This Mural

Tread’s mural addresses the impact of plastic pollution on oceans incorporated in a message in a bottle featuring Pania of the Reef. We are now producing nearly 300 million tons of plastic every year, half of which is for single use. Already, the ocean is filled with about 165 million tons of plastic. That’s 25 times heavier than the Great Pyramid of Giza. By 2050, the oceans will contain more plastic than fish. At least 937 million tons of plastic and 895 million tons of fish.

Take Action

Reduce your own plastic footprint by

  • Bringing your own bag, cup, utensils, straw, etc.
  • Shopping in bulk, reducing packaging waste
  • Choosing reusable and compostable goods over less sustainable materials
