A Coloring Companion for Sea Walls Boston

The Sea Walls Boston team has collaborated with Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Programs to create a coloring book as a safe way for local youth to engage in Sea Walls Boston and build a sense of ownership and pride for the artworks painted during Sea Walls Boston 2020. As a response to the global COVID-19 pandemic and need for educational resources for students (young and old), this is one of many ways we are adapting the project to serve the community in a difficult time, when public art is more important than ever. Art helps to express ourselves when words may be hard to come by!

The Sea Walls Boston volume of the Coloring Companion is FREE to download and features all seven murals painted in East Boston in 2020, as well as students’ artworks created for Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Programs’ global Ocean Awareness Contest. These original artworks were adapted into original educational coloring pages and accompanied by information on marine environmental issues, action steps, and an artist statement.

From warming seas to plastic pollution, our oceans will continue to need our help long after this pandemic passes, so we want you and your family to be inspired and engaged.

Harness your creativity and together, we can help save our seas!
