Story Behind This Mural
Artist Statement
Painted for the youth of Nusa Penida the Doraemon character is a popular icon in Asia for all generations. Giving awareness to the subject of plastic pollution with a childhood favorite so that people can interact with the painting and see the message in the bottle.
The painting is located at one of the local schools on the island and is passed by children daily hoping that they understand the damages humans cause the ocean, they also learn about the importance of recycling and proper disposal in class as well as the fact that our everyday consumption habits matter.
I hope the message behind the Doraemon mural will work well with lessons they learn in school to help create a cleaner island, home and ocean for themselves and future generations.
