Artist Statement

My mural focuses on the human consumption of plastics and its impact on our oceans and marine life. The main character is made of plastic and represents a metaphor of how our habits and use of plastics have been putting this world upside down. Plastic is the army we've sent to the ocean, to infect all its inhabitants, an invasion that will never dissolve or leave and will only break down to smaller and smaller scales becoming more damaging and harder to cure.

• Using a reusable water bottle and avoiding drinks bottled in plastic
• Bringing your own bag, cup, utensils, straw, etc.
• Shopping in bulk, reducing packaging waste
• Choosing reusable and compostable goods over less sustainable materials
